Laboratory Management and Supervision

Course Outline

INTRODUCTION

While working in a laboratory, the personnel are not necessarily concerned with the administration, human resource and financial management aspects of the laboratory.  As personnel are promoted these aspects become increasingly more important as the responsibilities move from the purely technical aspects of the laboratory to the management of the laboratory to ensure efficient operations and sustainability.

TRAINING COURSE

This is a three-day training course aimed at all personnel who are involved in laboratory management or are looking to expand their resumes in preparation for moving into management roles.

This course covers:

• Principle of Leadership
• Management Functions including problem solving and decision making
• Human resource Management (HRM)
• Fundamentals of Financial Management
• Laboratory Building design
• Laboratory operations and record keeping
• Technical operations

An examination is given at the end of the training.
