Foundation Certificate in Quality Systems
COURSE DESCRIPTION
The course is an introduction to quality systems and covers the basic principles of laboratory quality systems, developing and implementing a laboratory quality system and laboratory safety and waste management. It is applicable to people working in testing, calibration, sampling and medical laboratory. This course equips participants with knowledge and basic quality principles to apply when working in a laboratory that has a quality management system in place. This course is most suitable for Laboratory Assistants and Laboratory Technicians. Since this course covers the fundamentals of laboratory quality systems and the applicable laboratory quality standard (either ISO/IEC 17025 for testing, calibration and sampling or ISO/IEC 15189 for medical laboratories) it is good for everyone working in a laboratory to undertake this course including the laboratory support personnel like Accountants, Administrators, Human Resource personnel, IT personnel etc.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
By the end of the course the student should be able to:
- Apply and practice basic principles of laboratory quality systems,
- Develop documentation including policies, procedures, worksheets other records necessary for a laboratory quality system,
- Implement a laboratory quality system,
- Apply and practice laboratory safety and waste management principles,
- Identify hazards and apply and practice basic principles of Hazardous Critical Control Points.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
The entry requirement to the course is minimum of 3 “O” levels and the person can be employed or not employed. Undergraduate students before attachment can also undertake this course
EXEMPTIONS
Equivalent course offered by other institutes/consultants that are recognized by IQS will be exempted.
COURSE DURATION
Course duration is a minimum of 160 hours. The courses consist of modules that are in three categories which include common modules, core modules and elective modules. Common modules are modules that are undertaken at a certain level by all students studying quality systems courses for certificate type
1. Certificate type 1 courses are the quality system courses for Foundation, Practitioner and Diploma levels. Core modules are modules specific to a study level and specific to an operational sector e.g. laboratory, industrial, inspection and services sectors. Elective module are optional modules where students select what applies to them. All the common and core courses are compulsory.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
The course is an introduction to quality systems and covers the basic principles of industrial quality systems, developing and implementing a quality management system, environment monitoring and management, and occupational health and safety of employees. It equips students with knowledge and skills in producing/offering quality and satisfactory products/services. It is applicable to people working in industrial sectors like manufacturing, mining, pharmaceuticals, container terminals, etc which involve production, inspection, or movement of physical products and offering of services. This course equips participants with the knowledge and basic quality principles to apply when working in an industry that has a quality management system in place. Since this course covers the fundamentals of quality systems and the most common applicable industrial quality standards which include ISO/IEC 9001 for quality management systems, ISO/IEC 14001 for environmental management systems,ISO 22000, ISO/IEC 45001 for occupational health and safety and ISO/IEC 17020 for the competence of inspection bodies, it is good for everyone working in the industry to undertake this course and study applicable standards in their field of operation. Even the industry support personnel like Accountants, Administrators, Human Resource personnel, IT personnel are also encouraged to undertake this course to understand industrial quality systems in their organisation and help the technical personnel in the organisation attain their quality mandate and goals.

- Implement quality system(s) that is in line with ISO/IEC 9001 for quality management systems,ISO 22000 , ISO/IEC 14001 for environmental management systems, ISO/IEC 45001 for occupational health and safety, and ISO/IEC 17020 for the competence of inspection bodies,
- Apply and practice occupational health and safety principles,
- Identify hazards and apply and practice basic principles of Hazardous Analysis Critical Control Point,
- Monitor and manage the environment surrounding the industry in which they are working from,
- Conduct sound inspections to monitor and regulate member organizations.

Practitioner Certificate in Quality Systems
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course targets people who are employed and involved in implementing laboratory quality management systems and auditing/monitoring laboratory quality management systems at the operations level and middle management level. The course equips participants with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience in implementation and monitoring a quality management system. It covers all the elements necessary to implement and maintain a sustainable laboratory quality management system required for a competent laboratory , ISO 17025 and ISO 15189. This course is suitable for Laboratory Technicians, Laboratory Technologist, Laboratory Scientists, and laboratory Supervisors and Managers
COURSE OBJECTIVES
By the end of the course the student should be able to:
- Implement a sustainable laboratory quality management system required for a competent laboratory.
- Use statistical techniques & problem-solving techniques to conduct root cause analysis, troubleshoot and resolve problems/challenges identified in laboratory operation
- Conduct internal audits to monitor laboratory operations and generate an internal audit report
- Apply management system integration principles to integrate management systems
- Validate test methods and calculate the uncertainty of measurement
- Apply Risk Management, Opportunity Identification, and Feasibility Study to mitigate all identified laboratory risks and benefit from identified opportunities.

- Apply integration principles to integrate the various industrial management systems into one coherent integrated management system that addresses the requirements of ISO/IEC 9001, ISO/IEC 14001,ISO 22000, ISO/IEC 45001 and ISO/IEC 17020
- Use statistical techniques & problem-solving techniques to conduct root cause Analysis, trouble shoot and resolve problems/challenges identified in the operation of the specific industry
- Conduct both individual standard specific internal audits and integrated internal audits to monitor industry operations and generate internal audit reports
- Develop a HACCP plan and apply HACCP principle to improve the quality of the products for Food Safety, Systems.

Diploma in Quality Systems
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
This course targets people who are employed and involved in implementing, auditing/monitoring and managing quality systems and also people who are in leadership or senior management positions. The course equips participants with knowledge and skills in supervising and managing personnel, monitoring and improving operations. The course covers organizational management, capital budgeting, management system monitoring, and maintenance, bench marking and continuous improvement for efficient organizations. The students are required to identify, design, implement and report on an independent research activity. This course is suitable for senior employees, Supervisors, Managers, Quality Managers, Directors and CEOs.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

Completion of critical Foundation and Practitioner modules depending on field of operation is a pre-requisite. These critical modules can be taken as a package for Foundation certificate and Practitioner certificate or as individual modules.

Equivalent modules offered by other institutes/consultants that are recognized by IQS will be exempted.

Specialized Quality-Related Short Learning Program Certificate
COURSE DESCRIPTION
These are quality management system courses that are not part of the modules for Foundation, Practitioner or Diploma courses and are referred to as Certificate type 2 courses. These courses provide extra skills and knowledge to help personnel operate more efficiently in an organisation with a quality management system. The courses do not pertain to any level. The courses are just numbered sequential as they are developed. The courses are given an IQSQS three digit sequential course number starting at 001 e.g. IQSQS001.
